Limitations and Alternatives

Despite our best efforts, there may be some limitations. Below are the known issues and our efforts to address them. If you encounter an issue not listed or need assistance, please contact us.

Known Limitations for Zenyth:

Shopify Checkout and Account

Issue: Shopify Checkout and Account is a hosted checkout and account experience that does not allow direct modifications beyond simple styling adjustments. As a result, accessibility barriers present in Shopify Checkout and Accounts must be addressed by Shopify's development team. These barriers may include:

  • Errors and validation messages that may not be clearly communicated to assistive technologies.
  • Limited ability to customize accessible labels, roles, and states for dynamic elements.

Current Action: We continuously monitor Shopify's accessibility updates and advocate for necessary improvements by reporting identified issues to Shopify's support and development teams.

Assessment Approach

Zenyth took a comprehensive approach to making the Shopify storefront accessible and inclusive. Rather than applying isolated fixes, we built the storefront on the Zenyth Enterprise theme, our own Shopify theme engineered for accessibility from the ground up, and conducted a full accessibility audit of every page to identify barriers and opportunities for improvement. From there, we customized the theme for both functionality and accessibility, ensuring compliance with WCAG 2.2 Level AA standards. Our approach included optimizing keyboard navigation, improving screen reader compatibility, enhancing focus management, and refining interactive elements to create a seamless and user-friendly experience for all visitors.
